Board of Directors

Cindy Zimmer

Chair

Cindy Zimmer is a professional fundraiser by day and the editor/main writer of ATK Magazine (an online magazine about ‘all things Korean’) by night. Her particular fields of interest are Korean films, music and food; and has covered Korean music and film at major festivals in North America, including speaking at KCON. Cindy also has a Korean cooking show on YouTube (Canadian Doenjang) where she shares her love of Korean food. She is delighted to be a member of the board of directors.

Daekun Hwang

Vice Chair

Dr. Hwang received his PhD from McGill in the department of Chemical Engineering in 2006, and he had two years spending at MIT as a NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Postdoctoral Fellow. He currently works at Ryerson University as an assistant professor. Before joining the University, he spent two years at the University of Saskatchewan. Beside his academic career, he have been involved in a non-profit organization, the association of the Korean-Canadian Scientists and Engineers.

Choongho Park

Secretary/Treasurer/Senior Programmer

Choongho Park joined TKFF in 2014 as a programmer. He majored in political science in Korea and came to Canada in 2003. Since 2009, he has continued his studies in M.A. program for Sociology at York University, and he has organised and participated in various social activities and community events in Toronto.
Hanbin Kim (Vino)

Board Member/Senior Programmer

Hanbin Kim a.k.a Vino is an independent videographer / filmmaker. He enthusiastically collaborates with musicians and artists based in Toronto. He has been participating Toronto Korean Film Festival from the first year; now titled as the Executive Director for the festival in 2015″.
 
Carter Bruce

Board Member/Senior Programmer

Carter moved to Toronto from a small town in upstate New York to study cinema at university. After completing his MA in cinema and media studies at York University in 2012, he has worked on the programming teams of a few film festivals around Toronto. In 2015 he joined the TKFF programming staff. He loves Korean cinema, and is excited to bring the best to Toronto audiences.
Jaeyell Kim

Board Member

Jaeyell Kim is a registered Social Worker, psychotherapist. Jaeyell has a passion for helping youth and young adults in life transition and currently works at Griffin Centre, youth mental health agency to help youth and their families living with mental health challenges. Jaeyell also uses a stage name ‘jae10’ as an songwriter and recently release his first EP ‘Break Time’. Jaeyell mainly writes loop-based music and occasionally performs at different Starbucks locations in Toronto.

Eugene Kitaek Hong

Founder/Honourary Member

Eugene completed his associate degree in Creative Advertising at Seoul Institute of the Arts and BA in Film Studies at York University. Kitaek has been working in the film industry since 2002, he has been involved with many productions for televised commercials, broadcasting, music videos, and film. Eugene Kitaek Hong founded Toronto Korean Film Festival in 2012, and has been actively involved in the film industry in Toronto and Korea.
